Zoologist's Cow is a sweet pastoral picture of a doe-eyed cow grazing serenely on juicy green grass. As you pass, you say hello to her with a gift of a tart green apple.

Spring and summer both feel like a wonderful time to wear this, and it radiates sunshine and clear skies.

There’s a very simple happiness in this fragrance that makes it a favorite of mine when I’m looking to conjure a feeling of relaxed cheerfulness.

The jasmine note is a clean, fresh one (safer for those who are not fans of indoles) and the violet is a dewy aquatic one.

The profile lists “milk” as a note, but doesn’t specify what’s responsible for it. Whatever it is, Cow certainly does have a cool, sweet smoothness reminiscent of a cold, creamy glass of milk.

A lot of Zoologist perfumes have very earthy, carnal notes in them, but Cow seems like an outlier to me with nothing crossing the line into animalic.

Anyone who may be put off by their heavier offerings might want to try Cow, as it is surprisingly clean and fresh.

This is a lot like Penhaligon’s Artemisia, but with a superdose of tart, green apple.

If you prefer vanilla over apple, then go with Artemisia. Commodity’s Rain belongs in this family, too, but won’t have any of the fruit or milkiness of either of these.
